Comfort Food Galore

Winter is the perfect time for comfort food. It’s been raining like crazy here in SF, and while that’s just fine, nothing makes a rainy day better than a nice, warm meal.

Gialina is Glen Park’s pizza joint, and boy is it fabulous. I’ve been there three times now, and each time I was beyond impressed. Highly recommended are the antipasti platter and the zucca (butternut squash) pizza. The place is tiny and popular, so arrive early or accept the fact that you may need to wait for your table.

Spork , located on Valencia Street, is the gourmet take on diner food. Remember the old KFC? Well, Spork painted it gray and turned it into a diner more hip than you find anywhere else. The inside out burger with smashed fries is absolutely out of this world, and the nice selection of Belgian beers guarantees that you’ll have something nice to wash it down with. Make a reservation if you can, because this place gets very crowded.

Comfort food it up, people! What are you waiting for?
