Yesterday, Alex asked me if I by chance wanted to drive a Subaru Outback with her from Wisconsin to San Diego.
“GIANT BALLS OF TWINE! ROAD FOOD! CORN FIELDS!” was my response.
So, starting Wednesday, we’re driving down and across this great nation, on the longest road trip I’ll have ever taken.
To break up the monotony of gorgeous scenery, we’re going to stop here and there so I can work. Usually I plan my trips out months in advance, but this time I’m booked solid up until the day I leave.
Which means I need your help finding
-
amazing coffee shops in which to write,
-
amazing female and queer positive sex toy stores to visit,
-
amazing craft breweries and wineries,
-
delicious road food, and
-
GIANT BALLS OF TWINE or other weird shit along the road.
Here’s the route as it stands today (subject to change with my whims):
We’re going to:
- Madison, WI
- Chicago, IL
- St. Louis, MI
- Wichita, KS
- Albuquerque, NM
- Flagstaff, AZ
- San Diego, CA
Got any tips? I’d love all the help I can get.
I live in San Diego. As for coffee shops, two awesome ones are The Lazy Humingbird in Ocean Beach they have an awesome lavender almond milk latte (the cafe is very small though) and the other is called The Living Room it has couches and a totally home-y vibe much better for working on projects because it has a lot more space. If you’re looking for an excellent restaurant, one of my favorites is called Memelas it is a mixture of Thai and Mexican food. My two favorites there are the chicken satay memela and chicken pad thai. Memela’s is a bit out of the way from the other coffee shops but if you do stop by The Lazy Humingbird there is excellent food in that whole area. Ocean Beach is my favorite area is San Diego. If you want quick Mexican food try Nico’s on Newport Ave a few doors down is my favorite Chinese Restaurant called Little Chef. It’s a beach town with a hippy laid back vibe. Awesome and not too touristy.
I actually live in San Diego, which is why we’re ending the road trip there. BUT I haven’t been to any of the places you mentioned! So, I’m going to try them all!
So sad that you are missing New Orleans!
Me too! Another trip, though.
Shops you should go to (you probably know this already but I get excited):
A Woman’s Touch Madison
Early to Bed, Chicago
Tulip Toy Gallery, Chicago
Pleasure Chest, Chicago
Self Serve, Albuquerque
My work here is done!
Ok, if you could go to just one shop in Chicago, which would it be?!
Early to Bed – You must meet Searah!!
