Mixed Tape Monday: Songs We Made Out to in the Country

Welcome to Mixed Tape Mondays. A day where we celebrate just how much we love a cheesy, heartfelt, emotionally charged playlist.

This week’s playlist: songs we made out to in the country.

Associate editor Jessenia and I both grew up in Brawley, CA, a small farming town on the Mexican and Arizona borders. If you ever wanted to do anything you didn’t want your parents to see – from getting drunk to swimming naked in ditches to having sex on a ditchbank – you drove out to the country, parked by one of the numerous fields and had your fun.

There was, of course, always music playing in the background, usually coming out of somebody’s truck radio and very often country, cumbia or 90’s/00’s pop rock. Here is just a sampling of the ones we’ve listened to while having fun. (Note: this list was made with help by our Facebook fans. That’s why you should “like” us on FB).

Nelly – Hot In Here

Guns N’ Roses – November Rain

Sublime – Caress Me Down

LFO – Summer Girls

112 – Cupid

DMX – Party Up

Santana – Maria Maria

Brandy – Have You Ever

Keith Sweat – Twisted

Ginuwine – In Those Jeans

Selena – I Could Fall In Love

Garth Brooks – Ain’t Going Til Sun Comes Up

Kenny Chesney – She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy
