Queerie Me: Why Are You Talking So Much About BlogHer (our Readers Should be Excited too!)

Today’s Queerie Me takes a slightly different approach than the traditional posts because it wasn’t a question asked of me as much as a frustration thrown at me on Twitter by a reader of the blog, a frustration I totally understand. It went something like this:

Why are you talking so much about this BlogHer thing and not talking more about sex like usual?

How did you know Jessenia and I are going to BlogHer? Maybe it’s because it’s mentioned here. And here. And here again. And over here as well. And last year here, here and here.

We’re excited about BlogHer because BlogHer is very exciting. And we’re talking about it a lot because that’s kind of what we do over here: talk about exciting things.

BlogHer is a place for us to meet with other bloggers, talk about issues we all face running a blog and have blorgies. We’re extra active in and excited about the BlogHer community this year because I am speaking twice and we’re rolling out our Big Deal Campaign to help bloggers and writers feel important no matter what the size of their readership.

But that’s why we’re excited to go. Here’s why you should be excited we are going:

  • As a speaker, I’ve already gotten amazing free stuff to give away on this site, including the Crash Pad series porn giveaway we’re hosting right now. Free stuff for you = always awesome, right?!
  • We’re learning how to better the site. From technical glitches to graphic layouts to iphonography to content creation, we’re learning how to fix our problems and make a better experience for our readers.
  • We’re meeting new bloggers and will hopefully have new writers for the site as well. My goal is for QueerieBradshaw.com to be a place for people to write about sex, sexuality, gender and gender identity when they otherwise might not be able to post on their site what others consider controversial topics. I’m excited to talk to mommy, food, fashion, travel, lifestyle, DIY, military, disability, age, all types of bloggers really and get their perspectives on sex.
  • We’ll be able to introduce you to new writers, products and services. We all love cool new things and people!

So, all this BlogHer talk really helps you as well. Trust us. We do this all for you, our readers. Even the blorgies.

I promise, next week we have a plethora of porn, sex, gender and feminism talk for you, but right now, we’re just too damn excited about BlogHer to not talk about it.
