With delicious drinks, a chic poolside lounge, fantastic food, a rooftop skydeck and gays galore, it doesn’t get much better than The Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix, AZ.
We stopped by the Clarendon recently to grab drinks and a snack with a friend at Gallo Blanco, the Clarendon’s restaurant and bar. We had a gay old time, sipping on Palomas (El Jimador Repasado, grapefruit soda, fresh lime salt) and munching on mini-quesadillas with pulled pork and Oaxacan cheese.
Before leaving, we had to check out the infamous oasis pool, the best part of the hotel. With bright colors, dramatic lighting, in-pool fountains and multicolored walkways, the pool is truly an oasis.
Best of all, the pool is lined with a variety of places to sit, from reclining lawn chairs to padded sofas to giant king-sized beds, perfect for some poolside hanky panky.
I didn’t get to the rooftop bar or into one of the rooms, but from the quality of the rest of the hotel, the location and the photos online, I’m sure they’re all fabulous.
The only negative to this place is that it’s a bit too hip and is full of young party-goers, making it loud and possibly difficult to sleep. But, with a good pair of earplugs, this is a fabulous place to eat, drink, swim or stay while in Phoenix.
