Hi Everyone, I’m Cdub the Philosopher. I like well-crafted cocktails and well-crafted wine. Both are beautifully delicious and have the added bonus of helping my philosophization. Welcome to Thirsty Thursdays, where I will make tasty drinks, philosophize and be all around lushy. My credentials include a large supply of alcohol in my house, occasional visits to happy hours and a sommelier course I was too drunk to really remember.
Without even trying, June rapidly became Manhattan Month in my house. Sure, June is piping hot in most places, but not in San Francisco! When times are tough, the tough need bourbon with a cherry on top (or on the bottom). Let’s get drinking!
Classic Manhattan Cocktail
- 1 part sweet vermouth
- 2 parts bourbon (I used Bulleit–tasty and affordable)
- Optional: dash of orange bitters
- 1-2 cherries
Place cherries in martini glass. I use Luxardo. The more authentic the cherry the better!
Pour vermouth and bourbon (and bitters if you choose) over ice in a shaker and stir. Strain over cherries and enjoy!
